Holiday Wreath Making Experience

Celebrate the holiday season with Ko Kawai Lei Wreath Workshops, a two-hour hands-on experience rooted in Hawaiian culture and tradition. These workshops are offered throughout the holiday season and provide a meaningful way to connect with ʻāina (land) while learning the art of wreath making, an extension of lei making.

Each workshop begins with an introduction to Hawaiian practices of picking and lei making, exploring the respectful protocols and intentions behind gathering native plants. Kawai shares about the different plants brought that day, explaining their kauna (hidden meanings) and moʻolelo (stories) so that every wreath carries purpose and connection.

Participants then select their materials and create their own one-of-a-kind wreaths. You’re encouraged to bring foliage from your own ʻāina (yard), and Kawai will guide you on how to incorporate them into your design.

All materials are provided, including:

• Wreath base, pins, and clippers

• Fresh local foliage and plant varieties

• A wreath care card with tips for keeping your wreath looking fresh

• A complimentary greeting card to gift your wreath to someone special

Every participant leaves with a completed wreath, new skills, and a deeper appreciation for Hawaiian traditions and Hawaiian plants.
